2022 Technical Tour to Chiang Mai, Thailand

Chiang Mai Province in the Northern Thailand is currently promoting cultural landscape and urban historic landscape while planning for growing tourist historic city. It has become part of UNESCO Creative City Network on crafts and folk art while Intangible Cultural Heritage is still largely unrecognized by the state. Overtourism had been challenged by Covid-19 and the New Normal; Sustainable tourism and heritage-based development could be future key.

Several ICTC members went on a technical tour from October 31 to November 3, 2022 hosted by Chiang Mai University (Faculty of Architecture/Social Research Institute), Chiang Mai City Heritage Center, and the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB).
