Cultural Tourism Charter presented at MAATI Convention 2025

The ICOMOS International Cultural Heritage Tourism Charter was presented at the MAATI Convention 2025: Heritage Undiscovered, Debating the Unrecognised on October 4, 2025 in Ahmedabad, India together with the ICICH Charter. MAATI is the India-based Mavens of Architecture and Traditional Ideologies. The day began with a session of global importance (in collaboration with our knowledge partners: ICICH and ICTC), focusing on a key international document that guides the preservation of intangible cultural heritage.

The second session focused on the ICTC Charter, 2022 (ICOMOS International Cultural Heritage Tourism Charter). The session discussed the importance of the charter, its principles and guidelines in the context of sustainable tourism for the preservation of our cultural heritage. The session was followed by a meaningful discussion on their relevance to the Indian cultural heritage and tourism.

The ICTC session was presented by ICTC Vice President Ananya Bhattacharya, Co-Founder and Director of banglanatak dot com and a Kolkata-based social entrepreneur working for over 25 years to safeguard living heritage and promote community-based creative economies. She serves on international boards including ICHCAP, UNESCO’s Global Network of Facilitators, and the International Music Council.
